William James McBride (MBE)

McBride or Willie John McBride is one of the famous rugby football players in Ireland. He was born in Toomebrige, County Antrim and he live in Ballyelare. He played for Ireland, British and Irish Lions teams. He was the caption of the Ireland team for 63 matches. Gordon Brown was one of the famous players that McBride played with. In 1975, McBride ended his international career by playing his final match for Ireland. After that, he was a coach for the Irish team, then he became the manager. In 2004, he was named as Heineken Rugby Personality of the century.
